I can handle DDMMYY[YY] it reads correctly. But YYYYMMDD is numerically correct, most signifcant to least significant digitwise.
That thing only American's do, is completely non-sensical.
It is sensical for one use:
"So when is the event?"
"May 20th, 2024"
It's such a niche use, though
You mean the 20th of May?
20th in 5th in the year of our lord 2023
