I know the correct answer is to stop using Facebook, but there's a couple communities I follow for certain updates I can't get anywhere else.

Is there a good third party open source app for Android?

Using Firefox mobile with an ad blocker but it doesn't block Facebook ads or sponsored posts.

Get a private DNS that does it for you. I really don't have any recommendations since I rarely browse the internet when I'm not at home, but I do know it's a thing.

Iirc they're pretty cheap.

Yep, both Adguard and Mullvad offer free adblocking dns servers to everyone, would recommend the Mullvad one for anyone looking.

They're a bit limited compared to extensions (doesn't block all ads, leaves a blank space or an error in their place sometimes too), but if you use them on mobile they also have the effect of blocking ads that are built into apps
