he made the company into some sort of multi-stakeholder worker cooperative where the workers have an actual chunk of democratic say over the direction of the company

I was thinking the same to be honest, but didn't know how to phrase it without coming off in an unusual way.

The top down crunch-grindset is going to burn out the staff, and they've stated themselves that they're not happy with the quality of their work as things are.
