I want a remake with visuals done by the artist who illustrated the instruction manual, that would be amazing.

That would be Yoshitaka Amano.

A 2D-HD remake of this game would be an instant buy for me. Hope one day it will happen...

I'm not a huge fan of the graphics in these 2D FF remasters, they feel 'neither here nor there' with some elements in pixel art and some not.

Octopath Traveler's the only game I feel got away with it, probably because the heavy filtering makes it more consistent.

Live A Live on Switch is the example everyone should be pointing to of what a proper 2D-HD remake of FF1-6 could (and should) look like.

It's actually an almost offensive level of laziness, as a consumer, to have a company like Square Enix try to sell me a full-priced remaster collection that only includes partial use of 2D-HD in certain scenes and what essentially amounts to cheap 2D mobile game graphics everywhere else. And the difference is jarring. For the price I'm paying, I expect the full 2D-HD treatment, not...whatever half-assed nonsense this is.

Edit: Also, Octopath doesn't "get away with it" because of filters, it's a game made entirely in 2D-HD, which is why it's consistent. Same with Octopath II and Live A Live.

I know bout that remaster and no a remaster is not like a remake... 2D-HD treatment is the best FF6 can hope. A glimpse at octopath traveler 2 show how this technology is the perfect dress for a game like FF6

I tend to agree, though I'd also be extremely curious what a full modern FF7R-style remake would look and play like. Not sure I'd prefer it, but the idea fascinates me.

Honestly, I'm usually not a fan of what they do to pixel art games with their ugly 3D graphics.

Honestly, I'd rather not. Remakes tend to be disappointing, and I don't want that to happen to my favorite game.

...But then again, uncle Ultros in 3D...

Yeah it’s my favorite FF but it seems unnecessary. We already got the pixel remasters, don’t really need a 3d remake ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Edit: typos

FF7R was pretty good, i’d like to see how they could expand on FF6. Although… there are way too many playable characters. Might not be possible to do it justice.
