No, the US supports Israel because it’s in the interest of their own capital class, which is also why the Brits supported the creation of Israel in the first place.
The idea that the US supports Israel because of Israeli leverage also sounds quite a bit like antisemitic conspiracy theories, and I’m surprised people throw it around willy-nilly.
Our capital class is the leverage.
To add, the US supports Israel because Israel is still their #1 ally in the region.
Israel is the primary foil to Iran, whose government is a belligerent to America.
It doesn’t all have to be Capitalism vs your ideology; sometimes it’s just old-fashioned geopolitics.
You’re right, but outrage > facts, leading to effective political division and a collectively weaker class to govern.
