The sources on wikipedia say it was Percy Spencer, an American self-taught engineer. He noticed a Mr. Goodbar candy bar he had in his pocket started to melt from microwaves from an active radar set he was working on. The first food deliberately cooked was popcorn, and the second was an egg, which exploded.

Here are the direct sources: https://web.archive.org/web/20110709081022/http://www.gallawa.com/microtech/history.html https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4h1ESUz2H3E

If you have a link to the hamster experiment I would love to read more. I might dive into a microwave research hole today! lol

Engineering is a branch of Science. Specifically, Engineering is applied science. For example, scientists discovered that microwaves existed. Engineers made them heat up your food. How did we make safer and better microwaves appliances? Engineers applied the scientific method and iterated on the design and performed tests.

To say engineering is separate from the science is incorrect.

Depends on the type of community. I am the PS5 community creator. There is constant news available for discussions but you have to be consistent and patient. For other types of communities it is probably harder to even generate content. It helps to make friends with other mods also if your community has "neighbors" so to speak. For me that would be other console communities and gaming communities.

If you're gonna start something like c/birdswitharms you're probably gonna have a harder time gaining traction.

The only thing I like more than sync is people having the option to choose the app they prefer.

Lack of 3rd party apps is why a lot of us are even here in the first place. The more developers committed to Lemmy the better the platform will become.

You can't eat money. Our quality of life is already decreasing because of this. How do you think people's quality of life in Europe is going to be when the Gulfstream current shuts down and stops bringing warm tropical water to them? Reducing our exploitation of natural resources is not a sacrifice, it's the right thing to do. What we've been doing is wrong.

But what if it's all a hoax and we make the world a better place for no reason?
