If they integrate some self-hosted analytics and monetization mechanics, like Matomo and Stripe, to it, then it'll be a feasible alternative to YouTube.

Just make a build script and then write a flatpak build file that'll package it as a flatpak. Here's an example.
If you don't trust matrix.org, then you can self host the server yourself. Plus, the article you included is outdated.

The Rust hype at least makes sense. The other two are just utter bullshit.
Because most things built with Rust are faster than their equivalent, especially electron-based apps.
And safer, since Electron is just Chromium, which is mainly written in C++.
