Very true.

I was just trying to draw attention to some of the comments that are defending them. You'd think from some in here that a little smidge of philanthropy in retirement makes it all okay that one person can hoarde enough personal wealth to feed millions.

Reread my comment. I'm commenting on the content of the comments.

In these comments: People who think someone can accumulate obscene personal wealth and then give a small percentage away makes them good. But if someone dares suggest taxing that obscene wealth they are a monster.

In a sense, voluntarily choosing to not be a billionaire is the goodest thing a billionaire could do.

If they do it right before they die though, that makes it pretty dubious.

I think his actions as a billionaire are more telling.

Minecraft is just a knock off of Infiniminer anyway and Zachtronics are much more deserving of the billions. Love all their games. What else has Notch done?

That's exactly why they don't want it!

I would have played so many less games in my youth if I weren't able to trade discs with friends. I would have missed Vice City, Morrowind and Final Fantasy VII to name a few memorable ones.

Why do you think peace talks equal surrender? How do you think literally all other wars came to an end?

What happened on the 9th December 2001?

Not single player/story funny, but I don't think I've absolutely lost it to any game (possibly even any thing) more than Gang Beasts. Get 8 friends together for a rumble and cry laughs will be had.

One time back when we were living in an apartment with an inward courtyard facing window, my wife and I were laughing so hard a neighbour threw something at our window to get our attention so they could shout at us to keep it down. It was only 10pm on a Saturday :/

That's not the point of taxes. At least not in a civilised society. People who can't afford to contribute should be getting most value out of it.

You think the more taxes you pay the more value you should get out of them? Real "I pay cops wages so they work for me" and "I got mine, pull the ladder up" vibes.

And FYI I would not be in the bottom 50% here, so it's not some "freeloader trying to get myself a tax cut" opinion. I already pay a considerably higher percentage of income tax than your billionaires! I'm happy to pay taxes because they are for the good of the society I live in and because I have empathy for those in need, but that's evidently not the prevailing sentiment over there.
