Civvie 11 has a Patreon, but he never begs ya to support him, doesn't take sponsors (even makes fake sponsor skits to make fun of sponsors), and he just delivers his content with no intention on letting monetization get in the way. Worst he's done is display a card saying "midroll ad goes here."

As for his content, it's sort of a hybrid review/let's play of old first person shooters, new first person shooters inspired by those of old, hilariously inept first person shooters, and Slavjank. His humor is fantastic, editing is tight, and there's a sort of back story going on in the background of his videos that he could not be more interested in getting involved in (in character, mind.)

I think there also may be a sorta "smartphone fatigue" that's building up as well. People tired of having their privacy invaded, people frustrated at the modern smartphone ecosystem, people who just wanna be able to unplug from the internet and be to theirselves. I can honestly see a small movement building of people ditching smartphones for these older devices that have the same productivity apps, but without the distractions or privacy risks of the modern smartphone ecosystem.

You say the ecosystem is dead. Technically yeah it is, but there's a fantastic archive of old PalmOS applications that's being really well taken care of. Mostly old programs from back in the day (most of which are cracked), but then you have dedicated fans making new apps, like that one dude who built a version of Wordle for PalmOS!

Best part is that it even has a version that can be easily accessed from Palm devices, stripped of its modern features to give you a basic interface that works on hardware not built for the modern internet.

There's a tactile click to it, yeh! Doesn't make a sound but having that tactile sensation is nice.

I think there's one for old handhelds, but if it's there bugger all happens since there's barely any folks doing much with these lol.

I like collecting old 2000s handhelds. PDAs and the likes! Even daily driving a real beauty, a Sony Clié PEG-UX50 (catchy name as always, Sony!)

Say or do something. Experience negative consequences. Rather than owning it or admitting you did wrong, double down and deny or continue doing the thing that got you into trouble.

A drake is a four legged dragon that lacks wings, but that's not important now.

Not quite the spirit of what I was asking for, but upvoting anyway cause it reads like item descriptions you would have seen on r/outside lol.

Starting this off myself, there was one fella at my current job who bought vodka at a liquor store during his lunch break, poured heaps of it into his soda from a fast food joint, and wound up getting fired when they noticed him getting drunk as hell.

That was before I started working here, but coincidentally I met him at my other job!

Iirc, part of the problem is that DS9 was filmed on standard definition video, which you can't really upscale without things getting weird or ugly. TNG was recorded on film, which can be scanned in high resolution.
