My guess is that you are not part of an oppressed group? It is very easy for those used to privilege to criticise those from less privileged groups for wanting their own spaces because they have not experienced what it is like to be othered.
The point is to be free from the oppression that they experience often on a daily basis, not to keep their ideas unchallenged.

If I had the choice I would have gotten a Supernote A5X because they are a more ethical company, conscious of sustainability (their pen nib does not need replacing) and they provide a road map for updates so you know what's coming. I'm not able to get one, however, because I live in the UK and shipping and taxes end up nearly doubling the cost.
That said, from what I read, the best writing experience is with the reMarkable, though as others have said, the subscription service is a frustrating addition. They give you a year free when you buy new. This was my best option and I'll be getting one soon.
I also looked at Boox which has color options and a back light but the writing experience isn't as good because there is a gap in the screen where the back light is meaning its more like writing on a white board than paper.

Hello from kbin, I was having this discussion with someone on another post about users views of the Reddit alternatives. I made a comment that I slightly prefer Raddle to the rest of the Fediverse because it is a closed community, largely for anarchists and queer folks. I've definitely noticed a creeping toxicity since I opened my account with kbin after moving from Reddit when everyone else did and, to prove my point, was reduced (down voted) by a conservative reactionary, judging by their posts.
Federation is a interesting and I wonder how things would be here if politics was less reactionary and more about discussion and consensus. Any instance benefits from federation through an increased user base but that necessarily comes with the impact of not being able to manage who is in that user base.
I really liked r/menslib, it has a good balance and the toxicity was dealt with very well. This is what a new community would need. As someone else brought up, this was discussed this week, I actually thought you were the same person.
The fediverse is such a different experience to Reddit and I feel really disappointed when I see that toxicity that was so prevalent on Reddit seeping in here. On the whole posts here are so much more inviting.
This is exactly what I thought. The story here is that the human race has a massive child abuse material problem.
