It's not a bug, it's a feature. It takes too much energy to simulate multiple space faring civilizations at once in our universe. First come, first served and I guess there's something out there....

Well, sure, the super-rich might think they can buy their way out of the global warming apocalypse right now, but when the proverbial excrement meets the oscillating appliance, I doubt their stacks of cash will make a great umbrella. Imagine their surprise when they're left high and dry, clutching their last bottle of water in a world that values survival skills over bank account balances. It'll be a chilly reality check for them, and I can't help but wonder who'll be eager to assist former wealthy folks when their wallets no longer do the talking. 🌎💸😉

Automation. For example, The lights for my entire house are connected to Home Assistant. Essentially a smart home server that will let you manipulate virtually anything you can turn on and off. By using sensors (light levels, time of day, movement sensors) and you can have 'smart' lights.. so, for an example using these sensors, in the middle of the night if you get up, it detects movement in a room and puts the light on, but because it's night they are at 30% brightness..

Another thing you can do is turn the lights on and off rapidly in a room when you're at work and know the missus is home but hasn't seen your message. Failing that turn the TV off, turn the fans on, close the curtains and boil the kettle

It's a fun having automatic smart lights right up until people use the actual light switch to turn it off and then you have to get up.. or the fact that it takes time to get your phone, unlock it. Open the app and change the lights, rather than getting up of your fat arse and doing it yourself

Fair point. Whenever I scroll through it , all I see is trans this and USA that, and crappy memes made by 12 year olds that just aren't funny. There's a few communities I used to check occasionally but since they all went private, I can t read them since I never had an account.

Fuck Reddit. It's shit, full of crap memes, terrible conversation and fucking wierdos. You'll get jumped for anything you say. Leave Reddit on Reddit. What's the point of this becoming an extension.

ELI5 (Explain like I'm 5):

Imagine cancer cells as sneaky little creatures trying to spread and cause trouble in the body. Scientists discovered a new way these sneaky cells use a special protein called GRP78 to move around and become more resistant to treatment. This protein is like a helper that can change how other proteins work, affecting whether they are active or not.

Under stressful situations, GRP78 changes its location within the cell and starts controlling certain genes that are responsible for the movement of cancer cells. It's like the protein goes to a different room in the cell and starts giving commands to make the cancer cells move and spread more.

Now that we know about this protein and its tricks, scientists can work on ways to stop it from moving around or interfere with its commands, which might help in stopping cancer cells from spreading and becoming dangerous. But remember, it's still early research, and more work needs to be done to find effective treatments
