Maybe that’s why you don’t have problems with most of sites from Europe?!?

That's an interesting observation. I'm not sure, since I'm in Canada.

I use FF as my primary browser on my desktop, laptop, and mobile devices.

As much as I love and support FF and the Mozilla Foundation, I find that some websites simply need a Chromium-based browser to function properly. It's frustrating as hell.

I wonder how many people tried FF, had their favourite site stop working, and then switched back to Chrome.

Ontario, Canada (Near Toronto).

Our previous insurance was by far the least expensive, so I know it could have been worse. But over the pandemic, where we didn't drive much, it pissed me off to have to pay insurance and not even need it.

Then, when I started cycling more two years ago, I just stopped using the car for pretty much every trip that's less than 30 km way.

Between my wife and I, we used to pay a minimum of $150 and $200 per month for a single car. That was what we paid, even if we didn't move it from the driveway.

With pay-as-you-go, we paid around $250 for last year, and it'll be less this year.

I have a pay-as-you-go insurance in Canada, and they explicitly say that they "... will not use the data to cancel or refuse an automobile insurance policy; to apply surcharges to your current or future automobile policy or for marketing purposes.".

Apparently, they only use it to confirm the mileage. It does capture your GPS tracking, and will alert you of any issues, like a low car battery (which I've had a few times because I drive so little!).

Honestly, in this case, I don't care. I drive too infrequently, and this saves our family thousands a year, so it's a net benefit for me, and I choose to opt-in.

+1 for Floccus. Been using it for a least a year. 👌

I always wanted to contribute to OSM but found it a bit daunting.

Any contribution helps! Hell, I went around town just looking for bike parking racks to add, and was able to put dozens of new ones on the map. You can even just label house numbers (with the aforementioned apps listed in the comment you replied to).

whoBIRD

I've been using it, but it's so unfriendly compared to Merlin, which allows you to play back recordings, see more info about the bird detected, etc.

For me personally, I have a dry-erase board on my fridge and will note expiry/bb dates for items that are only fresh for a short time (i.e. the bread or almond milk I make). That way, everyone in my home can see it.

Pretty much all other food items like spices, flour, pantry ingredients, and frozen food are stocked in quantities that I would be able to use well before they "expire" (or diminish in quality). Some of these foods are fresh for years, so it doesn't really worry me that they'll go bad or anything.

Unless you've got a warehouse of food with moderate shelf life, I think there might be an easier way to do things without using an app, which I find just overcomplicates things. But even a simple spreadsheet, as already suggested, might be an easy option. Just my 2 cents.

My wife does the same, and I can't tell you how many times a day I have to help her reset passwords, figure out if something is an "1", "i", "l", or "|", or decide what needed to be capitalized.

Even though I have Bitwarden installed for her, she just "prefers" paper like some people prefer to stub their toes.

I was using Nitter to connect with local groups in my municipality who insist on using social media as their platform to inform the community of events, public notices, and development updates.

So this sucks. Even our local police communicates through Twitter.

Still, I refuse to sign up to it (again). Musk can eat a bag of dicks for all I care.

The camera captures so much data, that you can read street signs from the top of the building just by digitally zooming!

The thing about carcinogenic compounds, which are also toxins, is it’s entirely about dosage.

Agreed. The scientific consensus is that there is no safe lower limit for alcohol.

The human body can handle a lot more ethanol than pesticides...

To clarify, synthetic pesticides are quite harmful to humans and animals. Biopesticides, found naturally in many plant species, are quite safe by comparison. And plants containing natural toxins (i.e. fiddleheads, red kidney beans, stone fruits, etc.) are quite safe to consume when properly prepared.

Indeed, you are still benefiting from the consumption of those fruits and vegetables.

If you can, stay away from man-made pesticides in all food sources.

My point was that going with organic wine (to not have as many pesticides) won't stop wine from being harmful at any dose.

Basically, cancer from ethanol consumption shouldn’t be much of a concern.

Well.... I'm sure nobody agrees with that. Alcohol consumption is a leading preventable cause of cancer death in U.S, with that study concluding that "there is no safe threshold for alcohol and cancer risk.".
