Bazzite user here and I'm using flatpaks whenever possible and distrobox for everything else; which are the benefits of Nix over these?

Do you know any equally easy alternatives?

Yeah I'm recently discovered the new DuckDuckGo AI feature with both and they are pretty good!

I'm on a fresh install. I experienced this with Firefox, LibreWolf and Waterfox.

If that's the issue, why it doesn't happen with all other flatpaks?

Nothing special, I don't think that's the problem since the lag is at every launch and it takes something like a minute to appear.

Bazzite should have wayland by default

What is it? I'm on Bazzite.

Ok, I've tested this, I've noticed a lag of a couple of seconds for the first time I launched a distroboxed app.

While other flatpak apps have no problems. Any suggestions?

My stuff:

  • ArchLinux KDE, amdgpu, vulkan, wayland
  • RetroArch installed from official repos
  • cores installed via RetroArch utility

I'm using this command but it results in a graphical glitch when launched from steam:

retroarch -L "path/to/core" "path/to/game"

Possible causes I found:

  • the command may not work if the game is a .cue file
  • loading a game from Steam via RetroArch 64bit can be a problem(?)
  • cores installed with the utility are in ".info" and not in the ".so" extension

spoilerI haven't tried Steam Rom Manager as it doesn't solve my doubt and in any case I'm not sure it can solve the problem even if set correctly.

It's clearly proving to be the most innovative technology when it comes to decentralized communication, in my opinion.
