The Canadian system is triaged according to priority, as opposed to who can or can't afford it. I've had several MRIs, including one during the height of COVID, and have never waited more than a few weeks. One was scheduled a couple of months out and then moved up after a radiologist reviewed my x-rays. Granted one of them was at 3am but would rather have answers and an inconvenient appointment time
