But why is it a problem if they call on parts of the kernal they shouldn't? is it just a privacy concern, does it also impact performance? i don't understand

Imo for mobile (not tablets) sync is worse than connect.

I also remember back before the reddit drama, the sync dev would just vanish for months at a time. He's not reliable enough for me to give money to.
