Yuzu gave them the opening to sue though. If they had been more circumspect - "Oh this is to develop homebrew / indie games nudge nudge" then maybe Nintendo wouldn't have unleashed the lawyers or done so ineffectively. After all it wouldn't be Yuzu's fault if some wicked website corrupted their pure intentions by releasing device keys or patches that allowed their emulator run commercial games. But they were more blatant than that.

Also from an empathic perspective, of course Nintendo were going to sue. Yuzu should have known they would since that's what console platforms do when something interferes with their profits. Yuzu is doubly bad since it interferes with hardware sales and game sales unlike custom firmware / cartridges which only affect game sales.

Of course the genie is already out of the bottle. Yuzu's source code and binaries were on github for anyone to clone / fork. All the games are out in the wild. The piracy will carry on. I think it's fair to say the NSP is effectively dead as a platform at this point. If a NSP2 turns up this year, as rumored, then I expect it will have revised anti-piracy measures and potentially a heavy online service aspect to go with it - it's far easier to detect pirates and wield the banhammer when a device is online.

This is gilding the lily. Ford and GM know they are screwed and are adopting a defensive posture in the hopes of recovery. Maybe they perceive retreat as a way to moneyball their resources - wait for the EU carnage to subside and step back in. But thinking that this is coming from a position of strength though is a nonsense. Ford and GM are are fucked in Europe, and China and they're getting out. I haven't seen any sign the same applies to Tesla.

Slightly OT but I think Ford's chance to beat Tesla has flown out the window. Ford is partially withdrawing from Europe - it might linger on selling commercial vans & tractors but as a consumer brand they're nearly gone. GM has pulled out of Europe (and China). GM sold it's European Opel operation to Stellantis. There is talk of GM trying to enter Europe with EVs but we'll see.

Anyway the point is they both kind of blew it and are retreating to their domestic market, probably hoping they can cling on there, weather the storm and come back later. I think Tesla has taken over as the dominant auto maker and it's unlikely to change unless Elon does something spectacularly dumb or drops dead.

He posted the other day about being proud American etc. and yet he's actively giving comfort to hostile adversaries like Russia and screwing US allies. I think if I were the US federal government I wouldn't touch SpaceX or Starlink with a shitty stick given the mercurial, manchild in charge of them with his own agenda.

To be fair it happens here. Made a comment about far left & right being manipulated by Russian BS about Ukraine and some very tedious people started at me about how Ukraine are Nazis etc. I suppose it demonstrated my point in a roundabout way.

"Seize power by force and other things that only happened in my imagination"

You do realise that a peace deal / ceasefire which involves Ukraine giving up land, sovereignty or anything else is horseshit being pushed around by useful idiots? And who is feeding the far left with this crap? Russia because of course they are. And you only have to look at prior deals by Russia to see how believable any peace would be do. Or ask Yevgeny Prigozhin how deals work.

It's not the historical "concern", it's the constant parroting of Russian talking points by useful idiots on the far left. "Oh look at these Nazis [showing picture from 2014]", meanwhile Ukraine is actually a pluralist democracy and has a professional / conscript army fighting an invasion. They're not Nazis in aggregate or even substantially. It's sort of shit I'm obviously referring to.

Sorry but this is utter bollocks.

Ukraine has had a far right problem but lots of countries do. Doesn't mean it's more than the fringe as it is in other countries and it's CERTAINLY not a credible talking point or justification for war to invade a sovereign democracy. And the stupid part is that this shit still goes onto today, even to this comment where you attempt to justify it.

I think most people of the left or right can see the situation for what it is. However Russia is obviously crafting messages to appeal to those on the extremes. When you see people on the hard left screeching about Ukrainian Nazis or advancing absurd peace deals then they've been gotten at. When you see people from the hard right screeching about Ukrainian immigrants or the cost of the war vs America / Europe first then you know they've been gotten at.

As for Prigozhin, I think most people, even Russians are glad that he is dead but for different reasons. Seems clear that Putin murdered him for his disloyalty but nobody in Ukraine is going to mourn his loss for the spent force that is Wagner.

I'm fully expecting Russian media to explain how those evil Ukranians sneaked a missile battery or a fighter jet into Moscow airspace and shot down a plane that just happened to contained Putin's mortal enemies.
