Stupidity at its finest. The whole point of cheap 3rd party apple accessories is to use workarounds to get past apple DRMs and use them without paying the apple tax.

Blame apple foremost for creating such a market in the 1st place. You don't need such workarounds in other phones because they just work.

What good are 5-7 years of updates? If you don't let us repair our phones when we need. Assuming, everything else is fine.

Fuck advon.

That's Google's version of android. Most OEMs still have the single tap internet toggle.

Gist: "Evidently, starting next month, all external code contributions to AOSP will require approval from two Google reviewers before they can be submitted."

OEMs selling smartphones in China. And those like amazon selling fireOS based tablets, TVs, and fire TV sticks.

If you call snapdragon 778 a shit cpu and want all those features, you will not be getting a smartphone for a long time. I have used smartphones with half the processing power of 778, and they all work fine. My point being, fairphone 5 is the closest to that ideal smartphone, yet you dismiss it based on SoC alone. Snapdragon 778 is anything but shit.

They want people to use and be reliant on Google's version of android with play services and Google apps. That's what they have to lose.

Those tweets are different. It wouldn't make sense to create one for all of them. I guess the frequency could be reduced. Like posting with a higher gap between each post.

What phone are you using which has all those things with a good cpu?

[–] [email protected] 5 points 9 months ago (5 children)

Ah, Fairphone?

[–] [email protected] 7 points 10 months ago

Exactly! We need companies like fairphone, which not only provide long software support but also years of warranty where the device can actually last.

According to the article, it launched with android 10. So, just android 11 and android 12L. Giving an android 13 update was the least they could've done, considering android 14 is around the corner. Oh, well. Do not buy products from companies that do not guarantee to provide one.

The ability to control the clock speed of your CPU sounds neat, IMO

The original source is in Chinese, so posting the gsmarena article

TouchRetouch has switched to a subscription model. The older app cannot be downloaded by new users. The new app allows you to restore your old purchase and sets you to a core plan, where all the old features from that app still work. But, new features will require a sub.

The devs are also giving a 3 months promo from play store reviews and 50% off to old users for the yearly sub.

It could've been worse, like not honoring your previous purchase. But, this is ok.
