I have a buddy with adhd and he's also a musician.

He forgot he had to make a music video.

Not like he really ought to make one to market himself. He is contractually obligated to make a music video and he forgot.... well he forgot until it was just barely possible if everything went smoothly and he ran himself ragged.

I'm like this for most things except for cleaning the kitchen. It's essential to know she's counting on me, but if she's actually there I can't do anything. It could have something to do with the layout of our kitchen (she has to stand behind me if I'm washing dishes).

If she was working on something at the table I could probably ignore her and focus on cleaning, but if she's trying to clean too, I can't.

I love to be pedantic so I'll point out that it had to be 3 equal mutually perpendicular golden ratio rectangles

Does anyone have an analysis comparing the Fremen of Frank Herbert's Dune to the the Aiel of Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time?

The last time I donated blood (quite recently) I was asked if I had had a new sex partner or more than one sex partner the last 3 months.

I was asked if I had had sex with anyone within the last year that had previously had/ tested positive for hiv/aids.

I was asked if I had taken any hiv/aids preventers.

Is it the follow-up questions to these initial screening questions that are homophobic?

Are they?

Canadian Blood Services (CBS) says it plans to introduce the new behaviour-based questionnaire approach “no later” than Sept. 30. It will apply to both blood and plasma donations, outside of Quebec.

It will mean that when all donors are screened before rolling up their sleeves, they’ll be asked whether they have recently engaged in anal sex in the context of new or multiple sexual partners within the last few months. If they have, they would not be able to donate until they had gone three months without engaging in that activity.

I thought that change (2022) was the end of the discussion.

In Canada we donate blood for free, then they sell it to America.

The sculptor reportedly said:

"Le Coq c'est moi"

"The Cock is me"

Also related:

Coq means rooster in French and is not used as an insult or a euphemism for the penis at all.

But your mileage may vary.

I mean you could get a pump to boost the flow, and a big tankless water heater right? Put the pump at the main water supply valve and run a dedicated line to the shower.

Indubitably.

I mentioned my adhd diagnosis in a post earlier today so you may be the same inquirer. Regardless here's a little bit more of my story.

I was born in 1986 and not diagnosed with ADHD until 2021 (I was 35). I didn't do anything about about my diagnosis until 2023 when my career started going off the rails. I sometimes fantasize about what my career would have been like if I'd been diagnosed (and acted on the diagnosis) 15 years ago when I started to suspect something was up.

For me it mostly manifests as struggles to initiate tasks unless they're interesting or urgent.

Is it over diagnosed? Maybe. Our brains evolved to hunt, collect berries, and work collaboratively with our clan. If we struggle do so TPS reports so that shareholders know how their incomprehensible riches are being used, is it fair to call that a mental disorder?

Is paying money to the pharma-man so we can be a better money machine for your bosses shareholders kinda fucked up? Yes.

But will it also help me better support the things I value? My family? My community? My interests? Yes.

I think if you want to know if ADHD is over diagnosed you need a scholarly resource, not an internet forum.

I agree /u/sunbeam60 is tough as nails.

Wikipedia says

A superhero or superheroine is a stock character that typically possesses superpowers, abilities beyond those of ordinary people, and fits the role of the hero, typically using their powers to help the world become a better place, or dedicating themselves to protecting the public and fighting crime.

So yes, he is definitely dedicated to protecting the public, but it feels wrong to call him a super hero. What do you think?
