From personal use, I can tell you that the featureset is just not there. You can't even sort by followed accounts only, or get chronological updates. It's a hot turd sandwich.

With usernames omitting the full address of a username in posts (in most applications), won't impersonation be a massive issue on Lemmy? in c/[email protected]

That’s an exercise in futility. If Lemmy takes off like Mastodon/Pleroma/Misskey/etc then you would spend your time trying to create accounts on hundreds of Lemmys, some of which will be private or invite only meaning you can’t. Plus, anyone on Mastodon etc. can comment on Lemmy posts. It’s not a task you can complete.
