OpenSCAD has its uses, but would hardly classify it as full CAD software. Prusa, I believe, used OpenSCAD for a while but they even moved to Fusion360. FreeCAD would be great if the devs would stop trying to reinvent the wheel in their UI. There is a ton of potential, but it simply isn't where it needs to be yet.

Fusion360 or SolidWorks are very well established in that space and their shitty license models reflect that.

Still, as a free alternative, FreeCAD is where it's at. You just really need to understand if it will suit all of your needs and for me, it doesn't.

I have been using CentOS for years as a somewhat stable go-to for a long time, especially in business environments.

Honestly, it was a very simple fire-and-forget distro that I happen to know extremely well. However, with RH completely migrating to an Elon Musk inspired business model, it's time for a change.

While I don't have anything against Debian or Ubuntu, it was never my first choice of distro. (I'll give them another go shortly though, as the Ubuntu server distros were quite clean.) It boils down to silly things like yum instead of apt and such.

I suppose I am really asking what the most generic server-style distros are super popular these days. Any suggestions?

Yay? Are you in need of firearms or explosives or something?

I am sad about RIF. It blocked all the ads, didn't show all the shitty awards, was super clean, the video player worked well and the mod tools were awesome.

On a side note, its sad demise led me to Lemmy, so all is well.
