Santa Fe items at Taco Bell. Also the Volcano Nachos.

Carl's Jr. recently discontinued their Beyond Famous Star, which I honestly think tasted better than a regular Famous Star.

The idea (without having drawn out a tech design yet) is that first and foremost it serves as a search engine. I want to use the lddb search engine, however I don't believe they have an API so I'd have to scrape the results.

You can hand input search terms, or you can use a barcode scanner and scan the UPC. If you're like me and you use QR code stickers to catalogue your collection, you can also scan those with the right gun.

Results pop up. Then you have the option to save it to your collection, if it already isn't. If it is already in your collection, you may have other meta data available such as watch count incrementing, a "loaned to X" flag, notes, etc.

Initially the database would be a simple, local Sqlite db that can be backed up. Later I could add some more connectivity options, for remote dbs.

Those are the bigger CDS right?

From outward appearances, but it's different technology. LD is actually analog.

I have a few projects I dabble in with a bit of rotation.

I want to start a new one, building out a CLI specifically for LaserDisc collection tracking and organization.

You need very large forearms.

That's exactly what I said. I'm surprised you could decipher the code in my comment that said nothing of the sort.

I am trying to get back into the groove of working on pet projects, to further fill out my portfolio. I'm a software engineer, and the last 6 years have been spent working on proprietary codebases. So, I figure it's a good idea to come up with more ways to show my chops.

I'm sure they'd admit it, right? Right?

cryptsetup hanging? (lemmy.sdf.org)

Anyone ever have cryptsetup just start hanging after entering password on boot? This seems like it's going to be a fun issue to try to resolve...

First, please bear with some initial context:

I am creating a MUD engine from the ground up. I am nearing the point in development, where I will have to carve out a player/combat system, however I admittedly have zero experience playing TTRPGs. The only understanding I have is of being a player of existing MUDs and RPG computer games.

My understanding is the majority of MUDs are based upon D&D rulesets, occasionally modified to varying degrees. I would personally like a bit of an edge, and model my system after something else.

The engine is geared towards worlds that:

  • Encourage solo exploration and survival.
  • Have distant sci-fi, cyberpunk, and dystopian themes.
  • In addition to equipment, implant, and class bonuses, will incorporate gunplay.

It would be ideal to base off a ruleset that isn't [[[extremely]]] complex, but also allows for customization and flexibility.

Any suggestions are appreciated, and if there are any further questions, please ask.

Thanks!

EDIT: If anyone is curious about or wants to follow development, here is the github repo.

I hope this doesn't go against rules, I just wanted to encourage everyone in areas experiencing record heatwaves, to be kind to your local wildlife, strays, and neighboring animals.

Leave water out for both drinking, and bathing. Watch for animals in need, experiencing heat exhaustion.

Thanks!
