I’m a nurse. I took care of a patient for about two weeks a few years ago. He had a huge family and had lots of people around him day and night. Everyone was so nice and created a very special room around him. One of the last days before he was discharged he asked if I had a minute to talk. He had done that a few times before just to chat, but this time he told me, that he was very happy that I had been around him to take care of him, and just kept telling me how I was a great part of making him feel well, and that he would never forget me.

His condition wasn’t the best, and I’m quite certain he has passed by now, but I still think about him every now and then. For a moment he just made me feel so special. I will never forget him.

I had surgery back in 2015. I spent four days in a high care unit even though I was a routine case. The time was right after the Minions move came out. My husband got me a stuffed Bob that says goofy stuff when you squeeze it. I made every person who came in my room stop and squeeze that toy just to break the tension and get the workers to smile. Nursing is hard and you have to take joy wherever you can get it.

I went on a meditation retreat and was stood in a forest being mindful when a little mouse came out and drank some water that was pooled in a leaf.

Sounds like you fell into a Ghibli film! Did you get to ride the catbus home?

When my brother and I were around 14 we were killing time waiting for our mum while she was shopping. The main street was old so the storefronts opened out onto the street and the foot path was undercover. Every store had a sign hanging out the front. We were running along and jumping to touch every sign.

We came across one that was too high. I gave up but my brother was jumping for all he was worth and I was laughing at his failure to touch it. Because thats what siblings do.

My brother stopped to catch his breath and this really tall adult man wearing professional bright white chef clothing flies past, jumps really high and touches the sign. He shoots us a wide toothy grin mid air, lands on the ground, then casually continues on down the street. It was so unexpected, such a high jump from such a fancy looking man. We were extremely impressed and talked about it for months.

A few years back, I was going through a really tough time. It was a pretty dark phase for me tbh.

During one of those nights, I headed over to my then-girlfriend's house. We were just hanging out when I decided to take a shower. A couple minutes later she joined me, and we ended up standing there together under the warm water for a while lol. She noticed I was pretty down and offered to wash my hair. So, I sat in the bathtub while she gently washed my hair, and that simple, caring gesture somehow made my life 100x better. It made me feel like I was loved and there was someone helping me keep going.

She ended up cheating, but that's another story lol

Me and some friends were drinking at a table maybe two or three weeks ago, and we were asking some risqué questions to each other. Some questions were very personal, or downright dirty, so you had to drink if you didn’t want to answer.

Someone eventually said “say something nice about everyone sitting at the table”

This turned into each one of us sharing what we loved about each person there. We went in order, taking turns, and everyone had lovely things to say. We’ve only hung out as a group maybe 3-4 times before, but I feel like it really set our friendships in stone. It was a pleasant turn of events that gave us an opportunity to build each other up, and a chance to view ourselves how others saw us.

I work in a library and kids are typically pretty cute. I was saying hi to a coworker at the front desk as I was walking by and a kid runs up to her with a stuffed bear in his hands. He then happily introduced himself and his bear to my coworker and says “my bear helps me when I’m nervous and today I’m REALLY nervous so I brought him along!” No clue why. His parents were glowing, they looked so proud of their son. I was about to literally fall over dead from cuteness overload.

My friend recently had a baby at the age of 53. She's the kind of person who totally rocks doing anything and it's been a delight to see the photos. She posted a video of baby and her daddy reading a pop up book together and baby was giggling hysterically, and it was heart warming. It's the first child they had together and it was just wonderful to see a rather late in life dream come true for them. (iVF in case you were wondering).

I'm going to answer twice because I just thought of another one; the kids at my church are very comfortable with all of the adults there and interact with all of us, it's a very welcoming place (and as an aside not homophobic or evangelical trash). One of the toddlers always wants me to pick her up and hold her, which I do, and last week she pulled down my mask and very solemnly deposited a chunk of bread from the communion tray in my mouth. She was very determined that this was going to happen, lol, and it felt wonderful.
