Japan refuses to acknowledge fucking anything. They call pearl harbor “the great accident/mistake” — they are taught that they HAD to attack the US because we were being hostile and cut off their access to oil, what they don’t teach is WHY we did that. Including all the atrocities they committed in their invasion of china and indonesia.

It’s incredibly frustrating how we’ve just allowed them to brush the whole war under the proverbial rug. Their nationalistic revisions to their text books paint them as victims when in reality they were fucking monsters.

Germany admits their wrongs and thoroughly educates every student about them, which is part of the reason why nobody resents or holds present-day germans accountable for the Nazi’s actions. Japan’s unwillingness to do the same is wrong.

At least von braun and his ilk contributed to science. The same cannot be said for the japanese war criminals behind unit 731, 1855 etc. they were let off scot free for the results of their fucking evil, psychopathic, sadistic GARBAGE “science”/“experimentation” 99% of which had no debatable value whatsoever.

I will henceforth always be down to join in bagging on reddit. It’s just becoming aggressively shit these days. That IPO and the censorship it demands will end up being one of the worst things to ever happen to the site (it already has been, just in preparation for a sterile place for advertisers)—the others:

1. NEW reddit (old.reddit so much fucking better it’s ridiculous)
2. The changes to the website under Ellen Pao (who was hired for the sole purpose of being scapegoated for the backlash to said changes)
3. Ignoring the clear will & interests of their users, e.g. removing the visibility of downvotes
4. The recent API fiasco
5. The lack of any real/effectual commitment to curtail karma farming bots and shills.
6. The powertripping mouthbreathing neckbeard population called “moderators”

Idk i’ve definitely seen less groupthink in the voting on here than on reddit in recent years..

On reddit I cant even remember the number of times I’d seen practically the same exact comment/sentiment in the same context be wildly upvoted in one thread and obliterated with downvotes in another one. People’s votes on there are like 80% decided by the balance of votes already on the comment.

Early on when it was a smaller user population of decidedly more geeky people, you could trust the so-called Reddit Experts more often than not. Just like any community, once it reaches the mainstream it begins to lose its identity/charm/uniqueness and then at some arbitrary number of people it all goes to shit. You could see this with individual subreddits again and again, and then eventually with the whole site.

I was always happy to chime in with my expertise and help myself and others learn, but I just got banned for calling clarence thomas a “cunt” because it’s sexist hate speech, so along with the massive influx of new users with no concept of (or vested interest in) reddit’s identity, they’re also banning ~13 year users like me for no-no words. The shittiness is compounding.

Sorry this just turned into a reddit hate rant. I’m still bitter about what a shit website it’s become, I used to love it. I looked at a thread the other day and like 30% of the comments had been “removed by moderator” on a post that had no conceivable incitement to TOS-breaking comments.

Thank you. I didn’t even know what MGTOW meant—I’m guessing this person hate-lurks MGTOW and, accordingly, views everything a man ever says about relationships through a lens of hostility. It’s a real stretch to take anything I said as misogynistic.

I cant tell if you’re piling on with my joke or if you’re being the joke police, because my first downvote came right when you commented.

I hate that evolutionary part of me that cares about having sex/a mate so much that I actually allow myself to become depressed based on the goddamn preferences of one person.

For years the only happiness I’ve found has been by removing myself from the market entirely and just writing off the notion of being with someone, a “with no hope/expectations there is no letdown” kind of thing.

I was carrying on just fine like this until I got a beautiful new coworker a few months ago who laughs at even my worst jokes like it’s going out of style. Alas though I’m sure she likes me I know I’m too old for her so here I am just unusually unhappy in my solitude for the first time in years. Ugh, is it time to get on tinder? I fucking hate the whole enterprise of dating.
