This extension is also great https://extensions.gnome.org/extension/5489/search-light/. It provides the overview search bar without moving everything around like the regular overview.

It is only bad in the sense that it could be so much more, but it certainly is the best we have for phones atm.

https://nobaraproject.org/ There is really no reason not to try. You can just try a bootable USB first to see if Linux works for you and your hardware config. It's a great way to test things and determine what distro and desktop environment works for you.

I don't use Windows, but doesn't the LTSC and/or Enterprise edition come with better defaults?

Not an expert, but I feel like this might really improve the perceived responsiveness of the system under load.
