I'm mostly read-only on reddit via RSS on a few subs I follow. As loathe as I am to admit it, reddit still has a massive user base with a lot of active niche discussions that lemmy just can't replicate yet.

I use it regularly (web dev). A lot of complaints and mockery stems from using it badly. None of the programming languages that are regularly the butt of everyone's jokes force you to use them badly, they just allow you to. If you follow good practices, you'll be just fine.

I have no idea what you're talking about, I use a dozen different extensions, including a tab group manager, and it works great.

Why does it need to be native? There are numerous extensions that do this. That's half the point of Firefox, it's so extensible.
