The counter argument to that would be "why not just fund better schools?" We absolutely know how to make the population more intelligent, and it's a bit weird that countries like UK and US are actively doing the opposite.

Donating to an organisation in your own country (or within a region like the EU) might be a lot more financially efficient - both because your local banking system makes it easier, and because nobody is charging for currency conversions.

Is it maybe more about 'work for us'? Like celebrating Christmas isn't usually an attempt to recruit Christians, but displaying pride colors signals that you want to be seen as a safe place for people to work?

Sounds a bit like what Tor browser bundle does - they try to make all the browsers look the same to websites, so for example the website won't know your language preferences or screen size.

The Android keyboard changed a few years ago - it used to leave your word alone when you pressed space; now it will change your word to whatever the "AI" thinks.
