This is crazy. Basically, 2 cops arrive and open the door and see the suspect with a gun at his side that was not raised or pointed toward either cop. Without any provocation from any party involved the rookie runs in the opposite direction firing over his shoulder without even looking where he was firing and hit the other cop. After that the suspect fired too.

What a friggin mess. When are they going to start training cops to handle situations like they have a brain and not just fire at everything threatening?

And it was the cop whose rights were violated, not the guy who they were shooting at for no reason.

[–] [email protected] 36 points 10 months ago (1 children)

No, they just gave that guy an attempted murder charge he has to fight off.

AND they fired the cop who was shot because she apparently forgot to turn on her body cam before going in. The shooting cop experienced no professional repercussions, but the other two people involved did. It’s really special.

Nepotism. It's always nepotism. He'll turn out to have a link to higher ups, they always do.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 10 months ago

Nepotism is not required for police union nonsense. He’s just the white guy in the situation, probably

Average police officer salary in the US is 60k.

Do you know the average salary in the US? Also 60k.

Wouldn’t you rather have an average job instead of an “I could be killed today” job? We all would.

And so the only people that actually want to take average salary at the risk of death are people that are power-hungry and murder-hungry.

You aren’t gonna get better training at this salary level. You aren’t going to get a system that pays Walmart Manager salary that also has some rigorous hiring and training process that teaches you how to make split second life or death decisions.

This isn’t the secret service. It’s Walmart Managers with guns.

“I could be killed today” job?

Pizza delivery has a higher fatality rate than being a cop.

[–] [email protected] 13 points 10 months ago (1 children)

What's the average salary for jobs that require no education?

Suffolk county homicide police make $100k+, with unbelievable benefits. Guys later in their careers can get 200 days of paid time off per year, a very generous pension that cannot be taken away, and take home cars with gas paid for by the county.

They are unbelievably bad at homicide investigations, mostly just following hunches and beating suspects.

The problem isn't just the pay, they are rotten institutions that are beyond repair short of firing most of them at once.

Delivering pizza is more dangerous than police work.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Well then maybe pizza delivery folk should starting forming gangs that run their cities. Safer to be on the top of the food chain than the bottom.

Do you want Snow Crash? Because that’s how you get Snow Crash.

I pretty much already live in Snow Crash. Except the MK-ULTRA zealots are a much larger percentage of the population.

Also they are dumb. Remember multiple us police orgs have iq caps. Not minimums. Caps.

[–] [email protected] 16 points 10 months ago

like they have a brain

There's your problem.

Shooting people is their job. They're an occupying army and we're the enemy

[–] [email protected] 12 points 10 months ago

An army is trained, cops are more like a government sponsored gang.

soooooo the only thing that can stop a bad cop with a gun… is a good cop with a gun?

[–] [email protected] 6 points 10 months ago

Cop 1: Let's try to get this guy using Good Cop/Bad Cop.

Police enter interrogation room

GC: Can I get you anything? Water? Some food?

BC: Shoots perp in the head DIE MOTHERFUCKER!!!!

GC: What the fuck?? I didn't even get to ask him any questions!

BC: Gun still drawn I was trying to shoot YOU!!!

GC: OH SHIT!!! Draws weapon and shoots the perp again FUCK!

BC: FUCK!

Police Captain: Enters room with stern look on his face Well, you just killed our only lead... But good work! From the looks of things, he was about to attempt to murder one of y'all and that would be super illegal!

GC: Shoots Bad Cop dead NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!! OFFICER BRIAN!!!!! Fires gun in the air 7 more times and kills 3 more officers on the floor above and maims an immigrant

PC: Great work from a good cop! Let's grab lunch and celebrate your upcoming paid probationary period. There's an amazing resort you can take your partner's widow to, she won't be able to say no...

Everyone laughs and high fives, fade to black while playing theme song written by Kid Rock

Assuming the other cop is the good cop in this scenario, apparently not.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago

He was just waiting for a moment with plausible deniability, right? Maybe it will hold up better in the appeals.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 10 months ago
